PURSe: Portal-Based User
Registration Service The GRIDS Center is
pleased to announce the release of PURSe: Portal-based User
Registration System, which is now available for download. PURSe is a
system for registering users of Web-based applications that use the
Grid Security Infrastructure (based on PKI and X.509 certificates).
PURSE coordinates the process of establishing Grid security
certificates for new users when logging in to an application web
site. Users who already have valid certificates can also easily
register with the portal applications. By leveraging the MyProxy
certificate repository, PURSe shields web application users from the
complexities of X.509 certificate management, and enables rapid
registration of users.
Installation and downloads:
To learn more about PURSE, see its
entry
in the Grid Ecosystem reference guide or download the
current user's manual. To see an example of
PURSE in use, visit the
Earth System Grid Web site and click the Login link. (Note: At the
registration web page, please specify in the "Statement of Work" that you
are interested in seeing PURSe in action. Access will be granted with
limited access to ESG data.)
